Adjust assumptions

Small decor and accessories hardly benefit (Pfaff & Spann 2025). If you sell a lot of these, reduce the revenue from products that occupy space.

Sources and assumptions

Formula: extra orders = orders × share of spatial products × widget usage × higher conversion for users. Costs = package + visitors × share × usage × renders per user × cost per render. Your upside = extra orders × order value − costs.

Grade A is peer-reviewed field research. B is a benchmark with a described method. C is a claim by a supplier or retailer without a method. A dash means a rate or a calculation example.

  • Visitors using the widget

    • Cautious 3%
    • Moderate 10%
    • Strong 20%

Tangiblee 2025: approx. 11% of product page visits (derived by us). Tan et al. 2022: approx. 20% of sessions. Sofacompany via Cylindo: 19%. The 3% is our own assumption: no source measures a widget with photo upload that has just gone live.

    Grade: A/C

  • Conversion uplift among users

    • Cautious +5%
    • Moderate +10%
    • Strong +20%

Tan, Chandukala & Reddy, Journal of Marketing 2022: AR users bought almost 20% more often. That was in a cosmetics app. We only apply that 20% in the Strong scenario, for large, expensive products, which both studies found it works best for. 10% is half, because users already have more interest. 5% is a conservative lower bound.

    Grade: A

  • Effect on all orders

    • Cautious +0.15%
    • Moderate +1%
    • Strong +4%

For verification, not input. This is below what retailers and suppliers report at store level: CB2 +7%, Rugs USA +7.3%, Roomvo 5 to 10%.

    Grade: C

  • Revenue from products that occupy space

    100%

Pfaff & Spann, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services 2025: AR only increases sales for large products. If you sell a lot of small decor, reduce this share.

    Grade: A

  • Standard input

    20,000 visitors · 250 orders · €450 per order

Conversion for furniture webshops: median 0.9%, the best 20% achieve 1.7% (Littledata, 2026). Order value in Home & Garden: median $368 (Shogun, first half of 2026). Your own figures are always better.

    Grade: B

  • Cost per render

    €0.15

AI usage is billed per render, from €0.15. The calculator assumes that lowest rate; if you expect a higher one, change it under the assumptions.

    Grade: –

  • Renders per user

    1.5

Our own assumption, not yet measured.

    Grade: C

  • Returns and higher order value

    Not included

For this, there are only surveys and supplier figures, no independent measurement for furniture. Therefore, we omit them.

    Grade: C

Not used, because there is no method behind it: Shopify “94% higher conversion”, Houzz “11× more often”, figures from Wayfair and IKEA, and Macy's +60% (VR in store).

As of: October 2026.
